This is the story of a man named Alexei, who lives in his hometown far beyond the Urals.

 Winter lasts almost all year round here, bringing endless rain, snow, and freezing cold. It is the height of the Soviet Union's collapse, and nobody cares about such small, remote towns. Alexei's younger brother, Vadim, goes missing. 

A friend tells him that Vadim was taken away in two black cars—but despite everything, there is still hope...
